Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of StaffWeaver. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you have questions, email support@staffweaver.com.

Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using StaffWeaver, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

The service

StaffWeaver is currently in early access. We provide the service "as is," and features may be added, changed, or removed as we continue building. We'll do our best to communicate significant changes, but early access means things may evolve quickly.

Accounts

You agree to:

• Provide accurate account information (email, first/last name, and optional company name).
• Keep your login credentials safe and confidential.
• Use one person per user login — accounts are for individual use, not shared logins.

Your content

You own the scores and other content you create in StaffWeaver. By using the service, you grant us the limited license needed to host, store, and process your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. We do not claim ownership of your work.

Material you upload

StaffWeaver processes files you choose to give it — PDFs, images, and MusicXML files you import or scan. You are solely responsible for holding the rights to every file you upload. By uploading one you represent that you wrote or own the material, that you have the permission you need, that it is in the public domain, or that your use of it is otherwise permitted by law.

Most published sheet music is protected by copyright, and scanning or converting a copy does not change that. We do not review uploads for copyright status and cannot do so. StaffWeaver is not responsible for material you choose to upload or for what you do with the score produced from it, and you are responsible for any claim arising from it. If you believe material on StaffWeaver infringes your copyright, write to support@staffweaver.com and we will look into it; we may remove content and suspend accounts in response to a credible claim.

Community library

StaffWeaver includes a community library where users publish scores for other StaffWeaver users to find and import. Publishing is entirely optional: nothing you create is published unless you choose to publish it, and the library is visible only to signed-in StaffWeaver users.

Publishing a score

When you publish a score, you confirm that the rights warranty above covers distributing that material to other people, not only uploading it for your own use. Distribution is a broader right than private use, and publishing is the act that exercises it.

Some scores can only be published with an account of where they came from. A score you scanned, or one you imported from a MusicXML file, requires a provenance statement: a short written description of the source, its publication date if you know it, and why you are entitled to share it. That statement is your representation to us and to other users. It is stored with the publication and displayed publicly beside it, under your publisher name. We do not verify it and cannot do so, and supplying one does not move responsibility for the material to us — the rights warranty above continues to apply in full, and a statement you know to be untrue is a breach of these Terms.

By publishing, you grant DrillWeaver LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and distribute the published copy of that score to StaffWeaver users for as long as it remains published. You keep ownership of your work, and you may unpublish it at any time.

You also grant every StaffWeaver user who imports your published score a non-exclusive licence to import, edit, print, and perform their copy for personal, educational, and performance use within their own StaffWeaver account. That licence does not permit redistributing your score outside StaffWeaver, selling it, or publishing it elsewhere.

What publishing and removal actually do

A published score is a copy taken at the moment you published it. Editing your own score afterwards does not change what other people see until you publish it again, and republishing does not change the copies other users have already imported.

Unpublishing, or removal by us, delists the score: it disappears from the library and can no longer be imported. Copies other users imported while it was published remain in their own accounts. We do not reach into other people's accounts to delete their scores, so you should assume that a score, once published, cannot be fully recalled.

Reporting material, and copyright claims

Every score in the library can be reported from its own page. Reporting does not remove anything: we review reports, and a score stays up unless we decide to remove it.

If you believe material in the community library infringes a copyright you own or represent, email support@staffweaver.com with the subject line "Copyright claim" and include:

• identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed;
• identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it — the score's title and the publisher name shown on it, or a link to it;
• your name, address, telephone number, and email address;
• a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
• a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf;
• your physical or electronic signature.

We review credible claims promptly and expeditiously remove or disable access to material we decide to take down. We cannot act on a report that does not identify the material well enough for us to find it.

If your score was removed and you believe the removal was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the same address. It should identify the removed material and where it appeared, state under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification, and give your name, address, telephone number, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district — or, if you are outside the United States, any district in which we may be found. We may restore the material after passing your counter-notice to the person who claimed it, unless they tell us they have filed a court action.

Repeat infringers

We keep a record of material removed from the community library following a credible copyright claim. An account with three such removals loses the ability to publish to the community library. We may withdraw publishing access sooner where the circumstances warrant it, and we may suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly infringe. A removal we later determine was mistaken does not count against an account.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Abuse, disrupt, or attempt to circumvent the security of the service.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the service.
• Upload or create unlawful content, or use the service for any unlawful purpose.
• Upload material you do not hold the rights to, including copyrighted sheet music.
• Publish material to the community library that you do not hold the right to distribute.
• Redistribute a score you imported from the community library outside StaffWeaver.

Early access & the free tier

StaffWeaver is free during early access. We may introduce paid plans in the future. If we do, existing users will be notified in advance, and early-access accounts will keep favorable grandfathered terms.

Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, StaffWeaver and DrillWeaver LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, and our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose (which, during early access, is zero).

Termination

You may stop using StaffWeaver and request account deletion at any time by emailing support@staffweaver.com. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Changes to these terms

If we make material changes to these terms, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify account holders by email.
